* Manor ISD provides services to the pregnant teens in our district. Those include medical services, counseling services, parenting classes, and transportation to and from school.
Once the baby is born, the moms are entitled to homebound services for a period of 6 weeks. At the end of 6 weeks, MISD will provide transportation for the mom and the baby to school. The mom can attend school while the baby is in daycare.
We want those of you who become pregnant and have a baby to finish school and get your diplomas. This will prepare you to be able to support your child and take on the responsibilities of being a parent.
* Over the last 2 years, there has been an increase in the number of pregnancies among teens.
Pregnant teens are at high-risk for dropping out of school. They are also considered a "high risk" pregnancy. They have a greater risk of delivering premature babies, low birth weight babies, and babies with other "medical risks".
This is more than enough information to make those of you who think you're ready for a child take a step back and realize what you are risking for not only yourself , but an innocent child.
