FFA National Convention

National Convention for FFA
Written by Haley Malone.
Last week on Wednesday, October 27, 14 Manor High School FFA members, including Mr. Clinard and Ms.Bartos and parents of the members, attended the National Convention in Indianapolis, Indiana. FFA is a national organization, that contributes and brings awareness towards Americas farmers. The FFA is an organization designed for people who are interested in anything agriculture such as raising and showing animals and doing youth fair projects. In addition to that, they are creating jobs. Interestingly enough, almost 60% of Americas jobs are agriculture related or in the economic fields.
On this trip to National Convention, 14 members: Mr. Clinard, Ms. Bartos, Ms.Smith, Ms. Fiebig, Ms. Reyes, Andres Hernandez, Kevin Meredith, Joseph Briseño, Ms. Briseño, Chad Smith, Christina Reyes, Brianna Ortiz, and Magen Manis. They flew up to Indianapolis around 7am and got there around noon via a 5 hour plane ride. From there, they picked up their rental vans, checked into the hotel, and then went to the National Convention at the Lucas Oil Stadium. They arrived at the Stadium to receive a 2 star Nation Chapter award at the 83rd National FFA Convention. When I asked Mr. Clinard how he felt about receiving the award, he said they all felt very proud and excited of their chapter. After they received the award, they toured the race track of the Indianapolis 500. They also toured the FFA career show. They listened to guest speakers talk and use slideshows to inform the chapter members about more awards and scholarships. The next day, they went to the award banquet where they all celebrated the award.
